This Maple Classic Solid Shell Snare Drum is, by all estimations, an industry standard. Introduced in 1983, this drum spearheaded the custom drum shop movement, and significantly raised the bar as to what exactly qualifies a "pro-level" drum. These drums are built of single-ply maple shells. The wood is steam bent in a piece of equipment that has been in operation since before the turn of the last century. Fully hand finished from there, the SS Classic is one quality snare drum.
The shell is solid rock maple, hand-picked for grain consistency, and run through a steam bending process. These custom drums have hand cut bearing edges that are checked and rechecked on a machinist's grade granite flat (true to 1/10,000 of an inch). Brass hardware.
