This Classic Solid Shell Snare Drum is, by all estimations, an industry standard. Introduced in 1983, this drum spearheaded the custom drum shop movement, and significantly raised the bar as to what exactly qualifies a "pro-level" drum. This drum is built of a single-ply cherry shell. The wood is steam bent in a piece of equipment that has been in operation since before the turn of the last century. Fully hand finished from there, the SS Classic is one quality snare drum.
The shell is hand-picked for grain consistency, and run through a steam bending process. This custom drum has hand cut bearing edges that are checked and rechecked on a machinist's grade granite flat (true to 1/10,000 of an inch). Brass hardware.
