Fuchs Audio Technology Frost 100-1 Single Channel Head,
Fuchs Audio Technology® is
pleased to introduce the single channel FROST-100-1 Designed and built entirely
in the USA with the same dedication to tone and reliability as all Fuchs®
products the FROST-100 amplifiers are designed to deliver over 100 watts of rock
and roll attitude. Andy called upon his over 35 years of experience as a
musician, service technician and modifier, and designer, to make these
amplifiers the truest representation of his ideal rock amplifier.
Designed and tuned by Andy Fuchs in cooperation with metal guitarist Jack Frost
(Seven Witches, Savatage, Bronx Casket Company) the FROST-100-1 has a
simple-yet-effective feature set to the classic English JCM-800 style amplifier
format. It features low and high gain inputs which provide a mild smoother
distortion on the low gain input, and responsive high gain metal tones on the
high gain input. An input pre-gain and output master volume provide additional
control over the quantity and volume of overdrive. Classic passive tone controls
for high, mid and low, and a presence control in the feedback loop of the power
amp tailors high end response. A simple all tube effects loop features send and
return jacks, a true bypass switch, as well as -20 or 0 db level for pedal or
rack level effects. The power amp has 4, 8, and 16 ohm outputs to match any
cabinet configuration. The 100% tube signal path uses no solid state devices in
the signal path.
Internally, the amplifier features our standard configuration of overbuilt
military grade PC boards and hand wiring. All tubes are chassis mounted; a quiet
DC fan keeps the chassis temperatures low no matter how long or how loud you
play. Like all Fuchs® products,
the preamp tubes feature DC filaments for the lowest possible noise. A high
energy power supply provides a solid low end and impact, up to full output
clipping. All power supplies feature distributed audiophile style banked and
bypassed filter capacitors. By using groups of smaller capacitors instead of a
single larger capacitor, it allows the amplifier to react quicker to transients
and provide an extended high end and sustain. The chassis is 16 gauge T-6
aircraft grade anodized aluminum, for the best tone and strength. Our power and
output transformers and chokes are custom wound and oversized. The output stage
is designed for reliability into most any load including use with attenuators.
